Doorman, Organizer, De-escalator, Enforcer. These are the key components to a successful nightclub security operation.
Doorman: The Doorman is fluent with all forms of acceptable identification as outlined by the Liquor Control Board. The Doorman makes sure ID's are real, and that no one under the age of 21 is allowed inside. The Doorman can recognized Level 2 and Level 3 intoxication so no one who appears intoxicated is let inside. The doorman prevents alcohol and glassware from leaving the club. They also keep the front of the building organized, send smokers to the designated smoking area, and monitor building capacity.
Organizer: The Organizer maintains lines or sensitive areas that are prone to congestion. The Organizer monitors entry to VIP or reserved sections, and keeps an orderly line at the cashier. Bussers, barbacks and waitstaff benefit greatly from an Organizer, as they will always have a path to get through the crowd. An Organizer is essential to clubs that use a cover charge, so cashiers can stay focused on making change and issuing wristbands.
De-Escalator: The goal of the De-Escalator is to quickly diffuse angry or upset customers. Whether they are arguing with the bar staff or making a scene on the dance floor, the De-Escalator is sent in first. De-Escalators will calm the patrons using 5-star customer service in an attempt to not lose any business. Patrons who have a negative experience in a club tend to not come back. De-Escalators try to turn a negative into a repeat customer.
Enforcer: The Enforcer is the "nuclear option". Ultimately, your customers want to feel safe or they won't have a good time. If attempts with the De-Escalator fail or if a situation quickly gets out of control, the Enforcer is there to respond. Customers, bar staff, and club owners all rest easier knowing a competent Enforcer is in the room. Enforcers make sure house rules are followed, whether the customer stays or not.
Many clubs make the mistake of focusing on only one component. Multiple Enforcers may translate into poor customer service. An outstanding Doorman my be wasting his time orgainizing the VIP area. The components we put in place are based on the clientele and the layout of the club. Let Thompson Security tailor a program for your venue.
